When it comes to shopping, jewelry is not my forte. With all these bauble talks everywhere, I feel like I need to step up my game and expand my ‘bling’ horizon beyond what I see in big brands and department stores. I know local and indie jewelry designers are very hot now, and I would like to support more of them. But the fact is it’s tough because, first, you don’t know much about these designers, and second, you don’t know where to find them.
So when I was introduced to Gallery of Jewels earlier this week, I had no idea this shop is the ultimate “one-stop” shop for indie jewelry designers! This shop carries over 150 different designers (with 50% coming from the Bay Area) and everything in the store is finely hand crafted with designers’ love and passion for jewelry. So not only will you pick up something very unique but its also very likely that there’s a story behind the jewelry you own.
The store also has a considerable variety of styles so whether you like your jewelry dainty, chuncky, edgy, costumy, you will find something that suit your style. And guys, yes the guys, you may also find some really nice wedding rings and bands if your gal is someone who likes her bling more unique, different and perhaps with a bit of an old charm (think the Matchbook girl), this is the place to look! Trust me, it won’t cost you 40k!
I’m usually attracted to more fun and costume pieces so I was immediately drawn to Dona Taylor’s new SF charm bracelet. Dona also happens to be the co-founder of the store. The bracelet is very pretty and cute in person and my picture on top is really not doing its justice! You may think it’s a bit touristy but I like to think it can only be worn by a proud San Franciscan. :)
So, there’s one more thing I need to tell you… Gallery of Jewels has actually been around SF for over 20 years with locations in Noe Valley and Pac Heights (I must be under a rock because I had no idea!) They have just recently opened their third location in Union Square, Downtown and is throwing a Grand Opening party tomorrow Saturday night! I’m so sad I will have to miss it because of a wedding. But I am so happy to share this invitation with you all…
The party will be from 6pm-9pm and there will be wine, nibbles, live music, jewels and a chance to win a $500 raffle from the store! So mark this on your calendar now and get ready to be dazzled!
I also want to let you know that I had a wonderful walk through with the store manager, Melissa Segura, and she was able to tell me so much about each designer and the jewelry they carry (it’s kinda educational, in a sense.) So be sure to introduce yourself to Melissa if you’re there. She’s very nice and sweet and can possibly help find you that piece of jewelry you’ve been longing for! If you’re just having too much fun sipping and mingling, schedule a preview appointment with them and shop at your leisure. Have fun! :)
