It’s fun when there’s a friend in town, it gives me an excuse to go hang out at new spots. My wonderful friend (a superstar photographer + pinner + blogger), Jennifer Chong, is in town and we spent a night out in Oakland with her last night. Hayden and I first met up with Maia (who, btw, just wrote up this amazing Oakland guide on SF Girl by Bay) and Jennifer in Temescal Alley for a little stroll. We wanted to try Doughnut Dolly but unfortunately they closed at 3pm and everything was sold out by the time we got there. So we headed across the street to Tara’s Organic Ice-Cream for an afternoon treat. Hayden got to hung out with her new friends/aunties. She was pretty shy in the beginning but totally warmed up by the time she finished her ice-cream!
After that, we met up with Lisa+Lucas and Eva+Parker for some delicious grub at Camino. I’m so glad there’s other mommy friends around, because that means Hayden also has other friends to play around and entertain each other with. Since her and Lucas are the same age, it was really cool to see them interact and play with each other! (I think for the longest time, Hayden’s been mostly doing parallel play with other kids, so it’s nice to see that change in her.)
It was such a fun night to be out! I don’t make it to the East Bay that often but it sure was nice to have a change in scenery and trying one of the many amazing spots Oakland now has to offer. It’s crazy how much this part of town has changed in just a course of a few years. I’m hoping to make it back to Temescal Alley soon to do more shopping + exploring!
Have a happy, long, relaxing, fun, delicious, Memorial Day Weekend! xo Jeanne
