DIY Metallic Plates

Hi friends! Happy Monday!

Today my DIY contributor Samantha got a brilliant DIY Metallic Plates project for you! It involves making plates that are abstract and pretty, and it only takes 5 minutes of your time.

When I saw it, I was literally impressed and even thought it looked expensive. I’ve always wanted to create abstract art decor but never really knew how. I’m so thankful to have a friend like Samantha who’s into this sort of stuff and can show me how to make things like this on my own.

Check out the tutorial below, and let me know what you think!

Materials and Supplies:

+ 5 white plates that are ok for the oven. One extra in case you mess up (I got mine from Daiso.)

+ Metallic Copper, Gold and Black Porcelain paint 1.5 oz bottles

Step 1: Clean your plates and make sure it’s completely dry.

Step 2: There is no pattern to follow so choose any color to start. Hold the plate at an angle and drip the paint about 1 inch above the plate. Let it flow to create an abstract pattern. Tip: You can also take a Q-tip to brush the ends to create a brushstroke look.

Step 3: After you are done with all four plates let it dry overnight. Once they are dry, bake them for 35 min at 350 degrees.

This DIY is definitely artsy for the non-artsies! If that makes any sense. :)  The best thing is that it’s perfectly imperfect. There’s no pattern to follow just use your imagination. Great for gift giving too if you want to give something special but not wanting to spend a lot of money.

Hope you like this DIY and many thanks again to Samantha for the tutorial!
