This weekend I made a visit to The General Store. It’s only my third time going there but it’s quickly becoming one of my favorites in the city. I don’t make it to this shop very often because it is a little far out there in the Outer Sunset and it’s situated in a highly residential area. So you’re really only making a trip out there just for this shop.
By all means, I still love going there because I love checking out their home decor stuff, artsy magazines, and all sorts of specialty trinkets & purposeful goods I don’t see anywhere else. They also have some really unique designer clothing as well as the owners Serena and Mason’s handpick selection of vintage clothing. It is just a really good all-around trendy gift shop, if you ask me. And if you’re into craft and plants, they also have a really nice garden patio in the back where they offer craft and gardening workshops!
I happened to need to pick up a small anniversary gift for a dear cousin of mine so I got a set of these really handsome local Studiopatro tea towels and a very nice letterpress card. (Btw, did you know you can use a tea towel in 12 ways? Check it out here!)
Anyway, one would never think the Outer Sunset is a shopping destination, but trust me this is a real good neighborhood gem! What I would suggest though is making this a half day trip by grabbing a delicious brunch at Outerlands or enjoy your cup of joe at Trouble Coffee Company - all on the same block! And maybe, if maybe, the weather’s nice, you may enjoy taking a stroll to the Ocean Beach just a few blocks away. :)
