Hey friends, how were your weekends?

Mine started out with some fun eating and shopping on Friday afternoon with Maia of Conundrum and Erin of Apartment34. This time, we ventured out of San Fran a bit and met up with Maia who lives in downtown Oakland. She was showing us around all the new shops that has been popping up in the Old Oakland (aka PopUpHood). I was pretty stoked and surprised – mainly because I lived in the East Bay a few years ago and these were never here! So, I was a little blown away with how much it has changed. And ironically, Maia, who is a recent Wisconsin transplant, is the one showing us around!

While the PopUpHood is a pilot venture in this area (most shops here are under 1 year old), the owners said their shops are here to stay. I highly recommend spending an afternoon shopping, eating, and strolling around this part of the town. It’s truly delightful and lots of shopping for sweet things. I can assure you some damage will be done on your wallet – or pretty much drool from window shopping. :)

Have you been to the new Old Oakland yet? Any favorite shops or restaurants I should try next?

PopUpHood Shops include ~ Piper And John General Goods :: Umami Mart :: Marion & Rose’s Workshop :: McMullen :: Crown Nine

This is SUCH a fun post, Jeanne! I met Erin in NYC a few years ago and she was utterly charming – no wonder that you two are pals! (P.S. That owl artwork on the wall? Errrrm, all kinds of awesome!)

Well, what a delight to see the three of you ladies together. Looks like you all had a great time, and these shops look well curated. I’m especially drooling over that wall of art and the arrows…the arrows! I think the three of you need to do this more often. OR, you and Ms. Jennifer Chong go for round 2. ;)

Hi Jeanne!  Eva told me about this post– I love the photos!  The shop is always changing so it was fun to see some photos from last summer.  Hoping we get to meet soon!
