When I visit other cities, I love going to shops we don’t have in San Francisco. Who doesn’t, right?
I never got the chance to share with you my little shopping trip while I was in NYC two months ago. I was only there for 48 hours (here’s my trip in Part I and Part II) but had a few hours to myself to walk down the 5th Avenue and pop into some shops, one of them was the lovely Marimekko. These pictures are a little overdue, but hey, it’s Marimekko, so they are never over due! :)
The moment I stepped into this shop, it just felt right. The pretty colors, the quirky patterns and the beautiful products, I found myself in heaven! I was so mesmerized I wish I could have bought so many things… it was a little torturous, to be honest…
Even though I’ve been to NYC before, I always like to bring something back to remember my trip. But not the touristy NYC stuff if you know what I mean. So I ended up buying the “Savor The Moment” tray (shown above). I love the illustration and how it reminds me of the hustle and bustle of the city. It was perfect for me to bring back because I also love collecting trays and it fitted nicely in my suitcase.
Have you been to the shop before? Are you a Marimekko fan too? Well, guess what, you’re in luck! I’ve rounded up my top picks of Marimekko goodies on Luvocracy under my “Marimekko Heaven” collection, and if you order it by today (by 12/13), you will get “Free Shipping + No Tax” on your purchases. That’s a really good deal, don’t you think? I’m seriously gonna take advantage of this today and tackle the rest of my Christmas shopping! It has really turned into quite a project.
Here’s a few more shots of the street scene right outside of Marimekko and the Flatiron building. So neat they have a street food area where the tables and the umbrellas were all by Marimekko. If only I had the time to enjoy… sigh. Next time!
