I was scrolling through my photos and came across this beautiful summer radish salad I had at Crystal’s baby shower. I remembered there were only a few key ingredients, yet it was the most delightful and refreshing dish to eat.
I think when it comes to salads, a lot of us are accustomed to piling everything on our plate. The taste of each ingredient gets lost and nothing from the salad really stands out. As a result, we end up with an average joe salad like the ones we get at the salad bars. This may sound strange, but honestly, this salad here is teaching me a life lesson!
Do you see where I’m going with this?
Think of ourselves like the plate of salad. We often pile so much on ourselves that our true talents get lost. We often wonder why we aren’t shining like the other people we admire, and most of the time, it’s because we’re not concentrating on our best assets. We try to do so much, thinking that the more we have on our plate the better — and the more important we look. But in the end, we just end up looking like the average joe with a hot mess.
I’m one to admit that this has been my pitfall. It’s nothing to be ashamed about. I think sometimes you need to do that in order to find out who you are and what your strengths and weaknesses are. It’s a personal growth process, and I think when you’re younger, or soul-searching, taking on as much as you can to figure out a path for yourself is not exactly a bad idea. But once you realize what you’re good at, stick with those assets and make it simple for yourself. It looks better that way.
