Hi friends, happy Monday! I hope you had a nice weekend.
Two weeks ago, I used beauty as a hint to tease you on a little makeover I was going to do. :) Well, guess what? My makeover involved painting my wall PINK!!
What do you think? Do you like it? As with any makeovers, I was excited and nervous at the same time. I never painted a color wall before, let alone a feminine hue. I thought, oh boy, this can either turn out really cheesy or REALLY good.
I’ll let you be the judge!
When Ace Hardware introduced me to the stunning colors at “The Paint Studio“, their new in-store boutique carrying Clark+Kensington and Valspar premium paints, I couldn’t resist. What convinced me further was when Ace showed me their “Helpful is Beautiful” campaign, using beauty as a way to help me select my best color. I honestly have not thought of approaching my home design in that way. But as you can tell, the result turned out to be very “me”.
The wall color I chose is called “Pure Pink” by Clark+Kensington. I went through my make-up and took out the colors that I love and matched it with the paint chips. I narrowed it down by seeing what works with my current home aesthetic as well as the light in my home.
The paint job itself took less than 2 hours. I love the paint+primer in one and it provided excellent coverage! It applied smoothly without ridges from the brushes and rollers. The best part is that it has a low VOC (volatile organic compounds) levels, which has minimal odor and environmentally safe ingredients. With my two young kids at home, choosing safe products these days makes all the difference.
Have you visited your neighborhood Ace Hardware? I have two near me and they’re both within 2 miles. It’s been really convenient when I needed to run out for hardware supplies, and the people who work there are very personable and helpful – like they’re helping out a neighbor.
Now with The Paint Studio, they are offering their customers a boutique-style shopping experience that brings style and sophistication of the cosmetic world into the the paint aisle in Ace, with exclusive collections from Clark+Kensington and Valspar. I think it’s really great that they’re tailoring this experience to the ladies, because when it comes to paint colors, we all know who wears the pants in the house. *wink wink*
Have I inspired you to color a wall yet? :)
With the 4th of July coming up, Ace Hardware is having a ‘Star Spangled Instant Savings Event between 7/2 – 7/7. If you’re working on any projects that involve paint, head to your neighborhood Ace and get an instant savings of $5 off Clark+Kensington and $5 off Valspar paint.
The Paint Studio also allows customer to find their perfect color by offering pint-sized paint samples in any colors for just $4.99, and will offer the Valspar Color Guarentee – meaning if you don’t like the first color you chose, you can have another one on them!
I’m pretty happy with my makeover, but painting a wall pink wasn’t an easy decision. After all, I do have to consider my husband’s feelings, haha! To balance out the femininity, I chose photography and prints that are more abstract, with a combination of edge and style. I got most of my prints from emerging artists found on Tappan Collective and another from my friend’s shop, Ferme A Papier, I also chose mostly black frames to get the masculine look. With the new pink, I think I just added a lot more personality into my space. Thanks so much to The Paint Studio for helping me with the new color!
Now, this isn’t a makeover without sharing the ‘before’ picture, right? So, here it is…
What color would you paint your wall? xo Jeanne
