zu la boutique clouds raindrops decor nursery

I can’t believe we’re having a little storm here in SF, and it’s going to be raining all week long. While I don’t mind the rain so much, my little kiddo can’t wait to get out of the house. I have to come up with all sorts of little activities to keep her entertained, like coloring books, puzzles, pretend play-sets, iPad… but man, am I running out of ideas?

What do you do to entertain your kids at home on days like this?

In the meantime, I thought these clouds and raindrops from Zu La Boutique would do a good job of cheering up the nursery – rain or shine! I love that it comes in so many different patterns and colors! Kind of inspiring me to do a little redecorating with Hayden’s room. :)

If she’s good about not putting things in her mouth and you have little pots and pans, let her pretend to scoop and pour with them. I use an old cookie bin (or an old shoe box), pour in some beams or pasta shells and let her play with that. Or if you’re willing to get a little messy, let her pour and scoop with water maybe in the bathtub. That’s what I do some day (even not on rainy days). Put a sheet over the kitchen table and make a tent and play underneath it. Maybe pretend it’s a castle or something. Kids love that. But yeah there’s coloring, painting, puzzles, books … those can go so far. If worse comes to it, both of you put on your rain boots and jump into some puddles. She’ll love it!

    • I love these ideas, esp. the sheet over the kitchen table! I was about to get her rain boots last week but then I thought… oh, how often does SF rain?? Well, I should’ve bought them! Thanks for the advice!

  • So adorable – I don’t have a mini me yet or a nursery for that matter, but I want those little rain clouds and raindrops!

How sweet are these? Love the yellow one! :)

  • How cute!  I will have to look up that shop.  I saw someone already made my suggestion (I was going to make)… if you have a big box(es) or tables… making tents and tunnels is the best!  And I’m guessing she’s old enough to enjoy that.  Even Max (a bit younger) is entertained for a while with big boxes.  And making art is always a pick of mine.  And do you have a local Children’s Museum?  I know our Tot Spot in Houston’s Children’s Museum entertains Max for a while and wears him out for a nice long nap.
