SF Decorator Showcase 2011

SF Decorator Showcase

I finally got around to upload my pictures from the SF Decorator Showcase I went to two Fridays ago. Sorting pictures is such a chore! Anyways, I wasn’t really allowed to use my camera at the showcase but some of the designers were nice enough to let me sneak in a few shots… so I thought I’d share some of it here with you…

This is inside the “Studio Craft Room” designed by Lotus Bleu. It was a very colorful, vibrant room styled with so many cute things everywhere.

This is associate designer Allie Bruch (on the left) at Lotus Bleu who dedicated most of the creative support for this fun and whimsical room. (on the right is my friend.. who’s name is also called Jeanne :)

What caught my attention most was that they used these photo cord from CB2 to pin up small arts. I thought it was so cool because you will never think any designers from the showcase would source anything from there … but they did, and I loved it!

Lotus Bleu also has a boutique in Hayes Valley which sells a lot of their decorating pieces, like this beautiful green Hampton Links Lamp by Boston designer Jill Rosenwald. I love geometric patterns and I think this will look so chic on my desk (wait, i don’t have a desk…it’s on the kitchen table!)

Here we are entering the “Rumpus Room” by Philpotts Interiors. This is a space dedicated to enjoyment and pleasure…it was an instant tribal feel the moment you step into this room!

Ready for some cocktails and dancing?

I can only imagine how sexy and exotic this room can feel at night when it’s all dark…

You see the slot in the middle of this large lounge chair? It is specifically designed to rest your drinks there while sitting… clever!

Here we have a beautiful Kitchen by Tish Key Interior Design. I love the sparkling marble mosaic and the oversize roman numeral clock, a real modern take on a traditional kitchen.

Also found these Campbell’s soup cans by Andy Warhol in the kitchen… so cool!

And here I saved the best for last…

This room is called “Going To The Chapel”, designed by the lovely and talented designer Josephine Fisher. She told me that this room was entirely inspired by the Royal Wedding and was designed to tell a story of a girl getting ready to walk down the aisle. I especially love that all the exquisite textiles in this room were sourced from the UK in honor of the event.

What I also thought interesting was to find these service phones throughout the 6,244-square-foot home. It definitely adds history and characteristics to the house, and I bet it must’ve been such a luxury to have these back in the days. Now we text each other even though we live in a 900 sq ft. home, haha!

Again, there were a lot of rooms I was not able to photograph… but the ones that I did I thought it stood out the most. This is the fourth showcase I’ve been to thus far. It’s not a lot but compared to the past few ones I’ve attended, I felt that this showcase featured a lot more designers I normally don’t hear or read about, which was a breath of fresh air to me.

In my opinion, Decorator Showcase have always leaned towards traditional design (sometimes too much for my taste!) While I may not embrace all of the design concepts, I feel that I can always learn something from each and every designer. Whether it’s a pattern they chose, the colors they used, the furniture they designed…there are inspirations I can draw from every room.

Decorator Showcase

I’m glad I still made it to the showcase this year even though I don’t work in the industry anymore. My friend and I went on a Gilt City sponsored night, which was nice because we got to tour the house with a glass of bubbly in our hands. :)

The Decorator Showcase is opened thru the rest of this month. If you enjoy interiors & architecture and want to see a stunning historic Italian villa estate, visit here for more info. Hope you enjoyed this little tour!
