Need I say more about this post? I wasn’t kidding you when I said I had the best front row seats to see Martha Stewart up close & personal!
If you haven’t heard from your Google friends already (an earlier stop she made during her S.F. visit), Martha was in town this past weekend promoting her new book, Martha’s Entertaining, and hosted a cooking demo with her professional cookware at Macy’s. She was joined by her stellar food editor, Sarah Carey, from Martha Stewart Living and Everyday Food.
As I was anxiously awaiting for Martha’s appearance, I wondered… what will she wear? How will she look in person? Well, two words, polished and poised! She arrived in sleek black leather pants, pointy sling-back kitten heels, a crisp white collar shirt and a lovely (I want to say cashmere) sweater vest.
The crowd loved her quick-witted sense of humor, and rest assured, we were all entertained with a few good laughs! For her demo, she prepped us a tender braised Morrocan chicken with dates, spinach and couscous, and an “oh-so-delicious” pear tart! Everything was made from scratch, so naturally all the flavors tasted very pure, fresh, and perfectly balanced.
Eating out and ordering in has always been my way of life. But ever since I started a little family of my own, one of my goals is to cook more fresh food. Having this book and listening to Martha’s passion for cooking delicious food for the family really gives me that extra push in bringing out that “inner Martha” in me. I am very excited to attempt one of Martha’s signature dishes, and I hope Martha is happy that she had just inspired another lady to live in domestic bliss!
I am so glad I got to share this experience with you! If there are 3 more things I can tell you about Martha, here they are:
- Pie or cake? The pie.
- Best thing to invest for your kitchen? The stove.
- And always cook in your Michael Kors! :)
Special note: A huge thank you to Jennifer Margolin for thinking of me and to Macy’s and Macy’s Culinary Council for hosting such a wonderful event! It was as splendid as it can be, and as described from a comment I received on my earlier post… this was an amazing jaw dropping experience!
