Hello everyone! Welcome back to the third part of the Junior Leaque of San Francisco Home Tour. This is the second house I wanted to show you. The style is a complete opposite from the first house I featured, which offers a whole different dimension to home interiors & design. I would say this is very contemporary in comparison to the last home – which was much more traditional.

I was very fortunate to have met the Principal designer/Co-founder, Gioi Tran, of Applegate Tran Interiors during this home tour. I’ve always heard of Applegate Tran while working in the field of interior design and knew that they specializes in contemporary design with projects throughout the U.S. including San Francisco, New York and Hawaii. Their work had gained national attention from numerous features and publications and had received quite a few ASID awards throughout the years. So naturally, I was thrilled to see their work in person, and was even more thrilled when I was able to get in on a little inside scoop with some Q&A from the talented designer, Gioi, himself.

How would you describe the style of this home?

The style is a reflection of the client’s personality and personal taste. The client has an amazing personality who is vibrant and stylish in every way.  So the approach to create something modern and bold with sculptural elements and layering exotic textures and pattern. There is no definitive style that can be describes in one word, it is a mix of elements mentioned that creates something unique.

What were the challenges in getting this home tour ready?

It was quite an extensive project with major constructions with home being open down to studs.  With major renovation and then putting a deadline was quite challenging.

Did you have to work with the homeowner on the design? What is he/she like?

Yes the client Lana Bondar was quite involved in the process.  She was a lot of fun to work with since she is so passionate about design and her environment.  She can instantly tell you if she love or don’t which makes the process so much smoother and enjoyable.  What I love about the client she is not afraid to create a home that is extremely personable to her and doesn’t care what anybody else think.  I learned a lot from the client that way and it pushes me to create something unique.

Which one is your favorite room?

The family room/kitchen.

Any tip(s) on styling our home like Applegate Tran Interior?

Personalization is the key. I pay attention to the client’s personal style and attitude and create a vision that is inspire by it.  Express yourself.

Best shop(s) for interior decorating?

Coup D’Etat, Khrome Studios, Sloan Miyasato

And here are a few more pictures from my own camera…

Beautiful decorating pieces around the house including the stunning Swarovski crystal chandelier!

Currently, this house is still under construction. I believe Gioi had only 2 weeks to get the first floor ready for the tour which I thought he did incredibly well! I hope there will be a chance where I get to see the rest of the house. But given that the owner is all about putting the prettiest pieces she adores, I can only imagine how grand and glamourous this place will look once its all completed!
