As promised, I am sharing some pictures I took at the Decorate book signing event last Thursday at Anthropologie. It was such a delight to see Holly and Leslie, both were so friendly and approachable. Leslie, who is the creative talent behind A Creative Mint and contributor to Decor8, was so sweet in person. While Holly charmed us with her sense of humor and wit that sounded exactly like how she would talk in her blog.

The event started with a mood-board presentation where Holly gave us pointers on how to create a mood-board. It was especially helpful to those who were not trained in design or art (hint: she suggested on checking out p. 70 in her book.) The presentation was then followed by Leslie, who gave us some more insights on how she got herself to be creative again after having two children. And really, it’s as simple as keeping a notebook with her at all times where she kept everything and anything that inspired her (rather than throwing it into the trash.)

There were a lot of people at the event and of course everyone was trying to get a minute or two with Holly and Leslie. I was really glad I was able to catch Holly for a moment and personally introduce myself before she got onto the book signing table…because the moment she got on that table, the line got long, fast!

I enjoyed the event very much, and Anthropologie did a wonderful job putting it all together. From setting up the backdrop, to offering yummy treats and drinks, to being a very friendly hostess, the event was a success. They even had a walking kiosk for the convenience of purchasing Decorate anywhere in the store!
I also got to meet some of my new favorite bloggers - Kristen from Simply Grove and Erin from Apartment 34 (who actually just moved to SF, yay!) Other SF bloggers I loved seeing were of course Caitlin from Sacramento Street, Katie from Matchbook Magazine/The Neo-Traditionalist and Crystal from Rue Magazine/Plush Palate. I also had the chance to meet Victoria from SF Girl By Bay, who was so nice and so down-to-earth in person. (Btw, I was ecstatic the moment I found out she will be one of the speakers at Alt. Design Summit at Salt Lake 2012, are anyone of you going?)
Anyway, I hope I gave you a good little glimpse of what went on that night. I’m sure there were so many other talented bloggers at the event I didn’t get a chance to meet. It was almost surprising and inspiring to learn that there is such a community here in SF, and I think it was great that we all came together to celebrate Holly’s new book. I don’t know about you but I’m already looking forward to her second one. Hopefully she’ll be back soon before we know it! :)
