I always think the word ‘tablescape’ involves a lot of planning and styling. So when it comes down to it, I sometimes feel more overwhelmed than excited to put a table together.
But really, it doesn’t require a lot. I just came across this chic tablescape that looks, dare I say, quite easy to achieve. I almost feel like you can use this as an inspiration, get everything in this setting from, say Ikea, and no one would ever know. Isn’t that always the best?! :)
This is a setting I just spotted from Jenni Kayne’s recent Valentine’s Day party (the designer who mastered the signature D’Orsay flats.) I love the simple palette of a light lavender with toned-down neutrals and using soft linens with matte glaze dinnerware for a casual romantic-rustic look. It’s soft and feminine but not overly girly. I also love the simple display of the flatware; so easy that my 4 year-old can help me set the table, don’t you think?
As for the flowers, that has never been my forte either. But lately, I’m loving the way how florists are adding fruits and herbs with their arrangements. Try adding small fruits like raspberries (shown here) or kumquats, and herbs like mint or sage. And vary the height of your arrangements with different glass bottles and wine glasses.
This is so pretty for a sweet get-together with friends and family for Valentine’s Day. But really, I may have to copy this for Mother’s day, bridal showers, or even for my own birthday. And speaking of birthdays, today is actually my mom’s birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!!! I’m having her over for dinner and now I’m inspired to put a little tablescape together. :)
Happy Thursday, everyone!
